Elgina's Birthday Yacht Party!
special events  |  SEP. 27, 2008

Kyle gave me a ring and asked me if I'd be interested in photographing a surprise birthday party he was throwing for his lovely wife Elgina. Not just any birthday party mind you, but a party on the fabulous Five Stars Yacht! Hmm, let me think, a yacht trip around the San Francisco Bay, awesome fun people, great food and flowing bubbly, and dinner after at The Sausalito Yacht Club - YES!!! Have I mentioned how much I love my job :-)

Way to go Kyle! What a great birthday you gave Elgina. Thanks for asking me to come along. I'd had an absolute blast hanging with you guys and meeting all your fantastic friends.

The password is "Fun!"

Holly & Ted's Engagement
engagements  |  SEP. 11, 2008

Or should I say "Holly & Ted's Excellent Adventure"!! What a great evening this was. Everyone who knows me knows how much I love, love, love shooting engagement sessions for my couples and this was no exception. It's such a great way to relax, have fun, and get to know each other before the wedding. Holly and Ted are such super cool people and a blast to be around. They're definitely in touch with their inner child :-) I'm also a total dog person (see my girl dog), so getting to hang out with their sweet dogs Chivas and Sadie was great.

Holly and Ted suggested we shoot their engagement session during one of their nightly hikes with the dogs at Ft. Funston. I love it! This idea fits perfectly with my philosophy about engagement sessions. Every session should be as unique and different as the couples I'm photographing. The images should tell their story and reveal something about them. In other words - no cookie cutter sessions :-)

Ft. Funston is such a beautiful place with so many different areas to capture amazing images with killer backgrounds. You've got the beach, the forest, the ocean, everything is right there! After the session, chilled to the bone from the cold beach winds blowing off the Pacific, Holly & Ted turned me on to the coolest surf bar - The Rip Tide. You've got to check this place out, it's the bomb!! They show surfer movies (see the last image in this post) on Wednesday nights "Wet Wednesdays" and provide free grub to boot. The wings are to die for!!

Ok, so now I'm going to turn it over to my guest blogger Holly! Below you can read read Holly's comments about the engagement session and her photo captions too!! Enjoy:

"This was such a fun experience! We asked Michael if we could do our engagement session with the dogs during their normal evening walk at Ft. Funston. He enthusiastically said “Yes!” We were so excited!

It was a cool San Francisco evening, and the wind was picking up. The dogs did not cooperate very well and my hair was blowing everywhere, but Michael pulled through amazingly with these photos. By the end of the photo session we were all exhausted, windblown and sandy! We knew the perfect bar to warm us all up… The Ripe Tide! We wouldn’t change a thing! Every shot was worth the effort."

Thank you, thank you Michael!

Much love and appreciation,
Holly & Ted

These “dog” shots were not easy. This was their normal evening walk, so they didn’t understand all the fuss with us! - Holly

Classic Chivas… tongue hanging out! - Holly

I love this picture with the dogs! Perfect! - Holly

One of our favorites! - Holly

I love this picture with Sadie. This is really captured her personality. - Holly

Are you kidding me?! Is that really us!? Awesome! - Holly

Our love… 11 years and counting. This is such a sweet shot, Michael. Thank you. - Holly

You can see that Chivas still thinks the walk is about her! She wants to play fetch. Sadie is curiously looking your way. - Holly

This was such a cold, windy shot! We both had so much sand in our hair and teeth after this shot. Anything for the shot, right Corsentino? - Holly

I was freezing cold by this point! So worth it! - Holly

We see this wall every day when we take the dogs to the beach. Now we get an even bigger laugh when we see it! Too much fun! - Holly

Sweet!! My personal favorite! - Holly

Was this before or after we we nearly got soaked!? - Holly

Movie night at The Rip Tide. Why is my beer empty!? - Holly
