This is a great site for lighting nerds and photo geeks, which definitely includes yours truly and any other photographers reading this :-) Strobist is dedicated to helping photographers learn how to creatively use lightweight, portable, off-camera flash units and to helping you take your flash photography to the next level. Who among us doesn't want to learn more about lighting?
Strobist has an amazing cult following who have flash practice "meet-ups" all over the world. A simple youtube.com search brings up dozens of Strobist and Strobist inspired videos, check them out here - Strobist videos on Youtube.com
Their focus is on Nikon's flash system, but Canon shooters will find plenty of mind expanding content as well.
If you want to quickly bring your flash game up a few notches start checking out Strobist.com today!
The folks at Strobist.com have also just released a new lighting dvd, find out more here - Strobist Lighting DVD. |

I just got to Cambria, CA with Wendy and my girl dog Louisiana for a quick bit of much needed beachside r&r :-) We're staying at our favorite dog friendly spot down here – Cambria Shores Inn. Be sure and check it out some time. It rocks!
It's so relaxing and peaceful here. I can hear the surf crashing in distance as I'm writing this, which makes me ask myself - "dude, what are you doing on the computer?!! You're supposed to be chilling out!" So with that said, I'm off to sit in an adirondack chair, enjoy the sunset and then grab a great dinner! Warm regards, much love, and wish you were here!
PS: Looking forward to Kristine & Joel's wedding this Saturday!

This is my first Wednesday Website of The Week or "www"!!! With a little luck this will be a weekly spotlight of the best sites I've come across during my wild and woolly web travels. I'll be featuring sites with a focus on photography, software, technology, business, marketing, music, you name it! If it's cool and something I think you'll find interesting, it'll be here on Wednesdays.
What better web destination to lead off with than Lynda.com! This site is a geek's paradise, best friend, and potential addiction. It's an amazing software training resource that's limited only by the amount of time you have to spend there. If you're the self motivated type, don't have time or the inclination for classes and don't see the sense in investing in soon to be outdated instructional dvds than this is the place for you.
Chock full of hours and hours of self paced video tutorials about the latest creative and business software titles, it's a must see. If you'd like to learn from today's top experts about powerful Photoshop techniques, how to produce podcasts, how to design your own business communications, the ins and outs of your computer's new operating system, or how to use Quickbooks like a pro, then this is the place for you.
There are three different and very reasonable subscription options that have something to offer for everyone. Check out the free training videos at Lynda.com to get a feel for the awesome quality of their instruction. But beware – you may never leave :-) |
