Kessie & Jeremy's Engagement Session
engagements  |  JUL. 29, 2007

Kessie & Jeremy's wedding is this Saturday, Aug. 4th at Wilson Vineyards in Clarksburg Ca. How about a last minute engagement shoot!

Kessie & Jeremy had considered skipping their "You & Me" Engagement Portrait Session. I'm so glad they didn’t! I love shooting engagement sessions. It gives me and my clients a really fun and relaxed way to get to know each other before the wedding. More on that in my Q&A.

These guys are a blast and complete naturals in front of the camera, we had so much fun. We started off right down the street form the studio at this really pretty wrought iron gate and brick wall outside the home of my neighbor and friend, Tom Nolan. I've past this property a thousand times and always thought it would make a beautiful backdrop. Big thanks to Tom for letting us also shoot inside his awesome courtyard – so pretty and quintessential San Francisco.

Next we decided to head out to China Beach for some fun in the evening sun. On the way there, we saw this killer old rust bucket of a pickup truck that stopped us dead in our tracks. A gift from the photo gods must be honored! We had great fun with this pickup truck - what an awesome prop. We found out from neighbors that the funky pickup truck was a gift from husband to wife. How cool, I want to meet these people. Anyhoo, the neighborhood isn't too fond of the pickup truck, but we loved it!

After that, we finally made it out to the beach for a great finish to a really fun session. Thanks guys for a great time. Look forward to seeing you this Saturday! My good friend and super talented photographer Dennis Urbiztondo has graciously agreeded to come along and second shoot, what a coup!

Miroslava & Kyle’s Wedding
weddings  |  JUL. 27, 2007

This past Sunday 7/22/07, I had the pleasure of photographing Miroslava & Kyle’s wedding at the beautiful Wine & Roses in Lodi, Ca. Miroslava and Kyle are two of the most awesome and genuine people you could hope to meet. We totally hit off during their “You & Me” Engagement Portrait Session last month and I’ve been looking forward to their wedding ever since. It was great meeting their friends and family, and seeing all the love Miroslava & Kyle have in their lives. Thanks so much for making me part of your special day. Congratulations & best wishes!

Big thanks to my friend and talented colleague Jonathan Mandel of Checkerbox Photography for coming along and second shooting. The images marked JM are some of Jonathan’s great contribution.

Gina & Adam’s Engagement Session
engagements  |  JUL. 19, 2007

What a great couple! These guys are clearly very much in love and have tons of magic between them…super nice and cool people.

Gina and Adam are getting married in Hawaii, May 2008. Adam is into surfing and he and Gina both love it there. Originally I was only supposed to do their “You & Me Engagement Session“, as the they had previously booked a resort package that included a contract site photographer. Now after working together and getting to know one another we’re discussing Hawaii! Fingers crossed while we work out all the details — love it!

Our first location was a cool graffiti wall I spotted from the car at Octavia & Gough.

Big shout out to Wendy for all her awesome help and ideas, as usual.

Next we stopped at a great spot on Larkin Street overlooking the beautiful San Francisco Bay. Wendy knows all the cool spots!

Stop in the name of love. Fun!

Our last destination was Ocean Beach. I love shooting there. The dunes are really beautiful and the beach is massive and sweeping. We had a great time there and all got completely soaked and sandy in the process.

Gina’s tattoo means Angel in Japanese, Angle is also her last name. Cool!

Sweet! These two are so good looking.

Gina and Adam were up for anything. Thanks for braving the cold water guys. You rock!

It's clear from these images what a beautiful and tender relationship Gina and Adam have.

What a great time! Thanks so much for choosing me to make your engagement images. When the shoot was finished and we'd all toweled off and changed clothes, we realized just how hungry we were. We all decided to get a bite to eat at Tia Margarita, a Mexican restaurant that Wendy and I love. The four of us had fun reliving the shoot, getting to know each other, and of course toasting to an awesome day with our tasty margaritas. You guys are great - thanks again!
