I met Zach and his mom, DeAnna at Kessie & Jeremy's Wedding. After seeing Kessie & Jeremy's images, DeAnna asked me to come to Loomis, CA to photograph Zach's Senior Portraits. She explained that Zach was about to receive his letterman jacket from Del Oro High School's Golden Eagle Football Team!! DeAnna knows how I work and really wanted Zach to have those kind of personal images to capture him at this special time in his life. This is a big football family. I loved hearing their stories about cheering Zach on from the stands. Way to go, Zach!!
I encourage my clients to make their sessions as personal as possible. Everyone is unique and different and has their own interesting story. So why should they have images that look generic or cookie cutter? That's why my sessions are always different and unique-- just like the people I'm photographing. I'd rather what happens in my sessions be determined by the personalities of the people I'm photographing and not a tired list of scripted shots. This is one of those cases where one size definitely does not fit all. Doing it this way keeps it fresh and playful. That's when the true photo magic happens.
Big thanks to Dennis for making the trip up to Loomis with me and assisting on this shoot. Your energy and input are always invaluable.
I'm photographing DeAnna's sister Kristine's wedding in July, I can't wait. I'll have some awesome images from her and Joel's San Francisco engagement session in a few days.
Thanks DeAnna and Zach for trusting me to capture your Senior Portraits!!! I had a blast :-) |

Hey Guys! Happy Sunday. It's 8 AM on Sunday morning and I'm a little frazzled from yesterday's Napa, CA. wedding. Last night I got in at about Midnight, downloaded my cards, did a quick review, and enjoyed a repeat of SNL. Christopher Walken is so frickin' funny. By time I went to bed it was 2 in the morning :-) I'm totally excited about my interview on Blog Talk Radio today at Noon, so please tune in if you get the chance. Phone in at (646) 200-4451 and ask me your burning questions.
Ok, so here's the deal with the contest. I'm not usually much of a photo contest guy, but this one sounds like fun. Rangefinder Magazine and Nikon are co-sponsoring The Rangefinder/Nikon Portrait Contest! First off, it's FREE to enter! Like that. The top prize is an awesome Nikon D3 Camera, Nikon's new flagship model. The winning image will also appear on the cover of Rangefinder Magazine. Pretty cool!
The things is, you can only choose 1 image to enter into the contest!!! That's so hard. I've got so many cool portraits that I'd like to enter. I can't decide which one to pick. How about 10 images? 5 images? 2 images? Ok, just 1. Help me decide which 1 image to enter into the contest. While you're at it, submit your work as well by clicking on the graphic above! Maybe you'll bring home a brand new Nikon D3.
I've posted some of all time favorite wedding portraits for you to choose from. Use the poll below to pick your favorite image. Remember, I can only enter one, so vote only for your absolute favorite. I've started with wedding portraits, in the next few days I'll post another poll and you can vote on my favorite engagement portraits.
When the results are in, I'll post them here along with everyone's favorite image. Happy voting!
