As I drove through the pouring rain to meet Courtney and Mark in Berkeley, CA. I wondered how in the world I was going to pull off a fun and creative engagement session without everything and everyone getting soaked. The volume of rain pounding down on the road in front of me was truly awe inspiring.
Courtney and Mark had flown in from Los Angeles the day before and were only in town for two days. They'd come for a family visit, their engagement session and to take care of a few other wedding related details. Rescheduling would have put off their shoot until at least Christmas and possibly longer.
Courtney and I spoke on the phone earlier that morning and decided despite the crappy weather to go ahead with the shoot and see what happens. Maybe there'd be some rainy day magic. It's funny because sometimes what appears to be the worst of situations can end up yielding the best images. The rain turned out to be our romantic ally and friend. Throw in the perfect Bougainvillea colored umbrella, a super in love couple - and voilá, magic!!
