Erin & Arian are in word - awesome! They both live in Eugene, Oregon and have family in the Bay Area. I'll be photographing their wedding on May 25th, the day after my birthday, hint, hint!! They're getting married in beautiful Carmel, CA. at the fabulous La Playa Hotel. They were in town visiting family and friends for Turkey Day so what better follow up than an engagement session.
Erin had suggested we do their San Francisco engagement session at a café or restaurant after seeing Katya & Josh's Engagement Session. I suggested the Park Chalet because it's so cool and it seemed like a perfect fit for this laid back couple. It's got a really relaxed atmosphere and an outside seating area with Adorondak chairs. You can sit outside, have a glass of wine, people watch, eat great food, and generally have a great time.
Well that's exactly what happened, we had a great time! Afterward Erin, Arian, Wendy and I, headed to San Francisco's North Beach for Italian food at their favorite spot - Trattoria Pinocchio. And my nose isn't going to get any bigger when I tell you that the food and company were amazing. What fun!! I can't wait to see you guys again in May :-) |

This past year has been so incredible and I have so much to be thankful for. So many wonderful people and experiences have touched my life and art that I can hardly believe it. Thanksgiving is such a great holiday because it gives us a chance to stop and think about all the amazing good fortune that's come into our lives. It's an opportunity to savor and to express how lucky we all are for the many blessings that come our way during the year. This is my 2007 Thanksgiving list. I give major thanks to the following people and organizations for brightening my days and enriching my life. Happy Thanksgiving:
To my awesome clients for trusting me with their special once in a lifetime moments. I am truly blessed, touched, and honored to be part of them. I love my job so much!! I have been so lucky to have clients as amazing and special as you all are. You make it a pleasure! Much happiness, love, and success to you all.
Mom, for giving me the gift of life. Being a single mother isn't an easy job and you did it with grace, style, and infectious laughter. You showed me what art, taste, and culture are all about. You created an environment where I was free to explore and develop my own creativity. Whether you were playing Chopin on the piano with intense passion, painting large abstract expressionist canvases, or cooking up a massive Italian food feast for us and all your cool & arty friends, our home was always filled with art, laughter, and love. You've supported all my goals without judgement or reservation and always encouraged me to follow my dreams. Without you none of my achievements would be possible.
Dad for exposing me to the magic of photography at such an early age and helping to plant the seed for my lifelong love and passion.
Wendy for always being there and always saying yes. Yes, I'll come and take a twentieth look at the same image on the computer with some new tweak. Yes, I'll walk the dog and run the house while you work, and work, and work…. Yes, I'll run out and pick up lunch. Yes, you can do it - when that little voice in the back of my head is asking “can I do this?” Yes, it will happen - when I'm wondering if it will. Yes, go for it - when I need reassurance! I'm proud to call you my partner and I love you with all my heart.
Louisiana, Flash, & Wendy you guys help me realize everyday what's really important in life — love, family, enjoyment, and to taking time to stop and smell the roses. I cherish you all, you make my world a better place.
Dennis Urbiztondo for your endless encouragement and support “You’re doing all the right things man!”, always listening, being such an amazing and invaluable second shooter, taking such awesome head-shots of me, answering my never ending questions, and always heading straight to the computer when I call with something new I want to show you. Dude, you're a true friend and I appreciate your generosity and spirit big time!
Jonathan Mandle & John Vanek, my business building brainstorming buds! Thanks for your contributions, invaluable input, and energy during our amazing "ROWP" monthly meetings. So many great ideas, great friendship, and of course great food :-) Much success to you both in the coming year.
Andrew Hubbard for your lifelong friendship, love, support, incredible mind, and boundless humor. I can't wait to visit Japan again and meet your new baby girl Ayana. Much love to you, Aki, Kai, and Ayana.
Aaron Paul for your encouragement, laughter, and always positive energy. You're truly great and one of a kind. "Let's hate them together!"
Kathryn Hansen for being such a great friend, providing creative feedback and encouragement whenever I need it, and always pitching in with such a positive attitude no matter what the gig or how long the hours.
